The Three Kings in Alcala de Henares

Christmas is celebrated in Spain, but is more about getting together with family and eating more than you should. It sounds similar to our American Thanksgiving! The big day in Spain is Three Kings Day, because that is the day the children receive their toys. Not from Santa Claus, but from the Three Kings! I love that there is more of a link to the Bible with the kings bringing gifts rather than Santa (although, I really appreciate the true story of St. Nick). While we were out exploring Alcala, we happened upon The Three Kings!

Here they come!

Ezra & Nene watching the parade

All three kings!

Ezra, Nene, Da, Don Quixote, & Sancho Panza! Cervantes was born in the house behind them!

Don’t worry – Audrey came along too!

  2. So Fun! The one time I was in Spain, this is where we stayed with some missionaries. 🙂 Interesting to see the Three Kings Day celebrated like this! 🙂
